OAS to Hold Scholarship Selection Meeting for 2013-2014 Academic Cycle

  September 5, 2012

The Organization of American States (OAS), through its Department of Human Development, Education and Culture, will hold a meeting of the Academic and Technical Studies Scholarship Selection Committee (ATSSSC), from Monday, September 10th to Wednesday, September 12th. The ATSSSC will recommend to the OAS Secretary General which candidates should be awarded the OAS scholarships for the 2013-2014 academic cycle.

The ATSSSC is made up of seven members from different Member States, offering a broad regional representation; committee members are appointed by the Secretary General. Members have recognized competence in the academic and development fields or in hemispheric issues and serve in their personal capacities. The Committee will review and rank more than 220 candidates submitted to the OAS Academic Scholarship Program by the National Selection Commissions of each member state. The Committee will further recommend to the Secretary General which candidates are best qualified for the scholarships. Scholarship awardees will be announced in late October or early November 2012.
