OAS Secretary General Expresses Condolences to Venezuela for Deaths in Refinery Explosion

The Secretary General of the Organization of American States (OAS), José Miguel Insulza, expressed his condolences and solidarity to the President of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Hugo Chavez, following the explosion at the Amuay refinery, which killed more 40 people.

"I want to express, on behalf of the Organization of American States and on my own behalf, my deepest condolences for the tragic loss of human life caused by the Amuay refinery explosion," said Secretary General Insulza in the letter to Venezuelan President.

“At this time of national mourning, Mister President, count on the solidarity of the states of the Americas,” added the OAS Secretary General in his letter to President Chavez, in which he asked the President to “extend our condolences to the families of the victims as well, and our hopes that the injured make a speedy recovery.”
