Haiti Will Host the Forty-Fifth Regular Session of the OAS General Assembly in 2015
June 5, 2014
The forty-fifth regular session of the General Assembly of the Organization of American States (OAS) will be held in Haiti from June 7 to 9, 2015. So decided today, by acclamation, the member state representatives, as the deliberations of the forty-fourth regular session of the General Assembly concluded in Asunción, Paraguay.
The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Haiti, Duly Brutus, recalled that his country has already hosted the General Assembly, at its twenty-fifth regular session, held in Montrouis in June 1995. “Twenty years after hosting the General Assembly, the Government of Haiti is proud to be able to receive you all in 2015."
The Haitian Foreign Minister highlighted the fact that the declaration that entrusts his country with organizing the next regional event calls the Caribbean country's offer “a reaffirmation of its commitment to the aims of the OAS Charter.“ The head of the Caribbean country's diplomatic corps said "hosting all the member states of our regional organization, the observers, and the civil society organizations will be a new opportunity for our country to express its determination to continue its active participation in strengthening the OAS.”
