Insulza Condemns Israeli Attack and Warns of Risks of Escalating Violence in the Region

  May 31, 2010

The Secretary General of the Organization of American States (OAS), José Miguel Insulza, today condemned the attack of the Israeli Armed Forces against a flotilla that transported humanitarian aid to the Gaza strip, indicating that “nothing justifies the use of military force to attack, at great cost of human life, an unarmed civilian convoy.”

Secretary General Insulza warned of “the risk of a rise in violence in the region” and made a call to “avoid actions that could lead to the escalation of a situation that, once again, seriously threatens the peace process in the Middle East.”

In the same way, Insulza sent his condolences to the relatives of the victims and the countries to which they belonged.
