OAS Observation Mission in Paraguay Urges Equity in Electoral Coverage

  March 21, 2013

The Electoral Observation Mission of the Organization of American States (EOM/OAS) that is accompanying the electoral process in Paraguay urges the media in the country to broadcast, in equality of conditions, the different competing proposals and projects ahead of the elections on April 21.

The Mission draws attention to the use of polls as criteria for selection for coverage of the various candidates, and the granting of opportunities for debate on television. In this regard, the EOM/OAS is calling upon all media, particularly public media, to ensure that the citizens of Paraguay have all the information about the candidates competing on April 21 and are able to freely choose their representatives for the coming years.

The Mission, as has been the case, continues to accompany the electoral process closely and once again reiterates its readiness to support all actors in the process.
