OAS Secretary General Condemns Attack on Hospital and Killing of Journalists in Guatemala

The Secretary General of the Organization of American States (OAS), José Miguel Insulza, today expressed his condemnation of the armed attack that took place outside the San Juan de Dios Hospital in Guatemala City, which left two people dead and 27 injured.

Likewise, he expressed his condemnation of the deaths of two journalists, as a result of an armed attack in a park in Mazatenango, Suchitepequez.

"The violence perpetrated by criminal gangs is always reprehensible," said the Secretary General, adding that he expects a prompt investigation leading to the capture of those responsible for these crimes, “to reassure the civilian population."

Secretary General Insulza expressed his condolences to the families in mourning as a result of this tragedy and his full support to the Government of Guatemala in its fight against gang violence and organized crime.
