Each year in April, the OAS Board of External Auditors publishes a report covering the previous calendar year’s financial results. Reports covering 1996-2016 may be found here.

National Electoral Council of Venezuela will not be Invited to Hemispheric Meeting of Electoral Authorities

The Secretary General of the Organization of American States (OAS), Luis Almagro, today announced that the National Electoral Council of Venezuela will not be invited to the Inter-American Meeting of Electoral Authorities in Cartagena, Colombia on October 26 and 27, 2017.
Secretary General Almagro said “an electoral body that has shown itself to be at the service of a dictatorial regime cannot be invited to sit at the table of hemispheric democracy.”
He highlighted that “the bias that has characterized the Venezuelan Electoral Council has damaged the chances for a democratic exit from the crisis in the country. Far from serving as a guarantor, it has manipulated results and violated the political rights of the Venezuelan people.”
The OAS will co-organize the annual meeting of the top electoral authorities of the region under the auspices of the Colombian National Electoral Council and the National Registry of Civil Status of Colombia.
