OAS Electoral Observation Mission in Colombia ahead of March 11 Legislative Elections

The Electoral Observation Mission of the Organization of American States (OAS) to the March 11 legislative elections in Colombia was installed today in the South American country.
The Secretary General of the OAS, Luis Almagro, designated as Chief of Mission former Vice President of Costa Rica Kevin Casas Zamora, who will arrive in Colombia on Wednesday, March 7.
The Mission will be made up of 20 experts and observers from 11 countries, who will carry out a substantive analysis of electoral organization and technology, campaign financing, electoral justice, the political participation of women, and the electoral participation of indigenous peoples and afro-descendants.
This will be the sixteenth election observed by the OAS in Colombia.
