OAS Secretary General Travels to Bolivia and Chile

The Secretary General of the Organization of American States (OAS), José Miguel Insulza, will make an official visit to Bolivia on Thursday and Friday, November 14 and 15.

On Thursday, the OAS Secretary General will meet with President Evo Morales in the Government Palace. Following the meeting he will attend a luncheon offered by the Ministry of External Relations and a meeting with the President and Vice President of the Bolivian Supreme Electoral Tribunal, Wilma Velasco Aguilar and Wilfredo Ovando, respectively.

On Friday he will visit the Plurinational Assembly to meet with the Presidents of the Senate, Gabriela Montaño Viaña, and the Chamber of Deputies, Betty Asunta Tejada Soruco. Next he will meet with the Foreign Minister, David Choquehuanca, who will hold a working lunch for Secretary General Insulza that will include the Minister of Government, Carlos Gustavo Romero Bonifaz; the Minister of Defense, Rubén Aldo Saavedra Soto; the Minister of Institutional Transparency and Combating Corruption, Nardi Suxo; the Minister of Justice, Cecilia Luisa Ayllón Quineros; the Presidents of the Senate and Chamber of Deputies; and the Deputy Foreign Minister, Juan Carlos Alurralde Tejada.

Following his visit to Bolivia, Secretary General Insulza will travel to Chile to exercise his right to vote in the presidential, congressional, and regional elections, which will take place Sunday, November 17.

The chief representative of the hemispheric institution will return to Washington, DC on Monday to take part in the presentation by the United States Secretary of State, John Kerry, in an event co-organized by the OAS and the Inter-American Dialogue.
