OAS Hosts Meeting of the Inter-American Committee of Science and Technology (COMCYT)

The Organization of American States (OAS), through its Inter-American Council for Integral Development (CIDI), will host tomorrow Thursday, November 14, and Friday, November 15, the Eighth Regular Meeting of the Inter-American Committee of Science and Technology (COMCYT).

The welcoming remarks for the event will be delivered by the Assistant Secretary General of the OAS, Albert Ramdin, and the meeting will be led by the Chair of COMCYT, Rubén Berrocal, National Secretary for Science, Technology and Innovation of Panama. The event will feature the participation of Alejandro Cruz, Minister of Science, Technology and Telecommunications of Costa Rica; Eduardo Bolañós, General Director of the Office of the Vice President of Nicaragua; Armando Pokus, Undersecretary in the National Secretariat for Science and Technology of Guatemala; and Sherry Tross, Executive Secretary for Integral Development of the OAS, among others.

The meeting will include two panels; the first, with the private sector, on “Public-Private Partnerships for Education in Technology and Talent Development;” and the second on “Women, Innovation, and Entrepreneurship,” which will include the participation of recognized experts.

The primary function of COMCYT is to contribute to the definition and implementation of policies of cooperation for scientific and technological development and innovation in the Hemisphere.
