OAS organizes an Inter-American workshop on capacity building in the Dominican Republic for professionals in education and culture fields

The Organization of American States (OAS) will host an Inter-American workshop on "The role of the arts and media in the education of a democratic citizenry" in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic from Wednesday, June 16 to Friday, June 18, 2010.
The event, which includes the participation of close to 100 professionals from 26 Member States of the OAS, was made possible thanks to the support of the Secretariat of State for Culture, the Secretariat of State for Education of the Dominican Republic, and the Global Foundation for Democracy and Development (FUNGLODE / GFDD).
The workshop aims to foster the implementation of educational policies that promote cultural diversity and the development of skills and knowledge and contribute to the professionalization of the cultural sector. The topics of the discussion panels include Education and Careers of the Future in the Cultural and Creative Industries; Successful Experiences in Incorporating the Arts into Educational Programming; and Arts, Culture and Social Inclusion.
