OAS to Hold Roundtable on "Raising Awareness of Domestic Servitude in the Americas"

The Organization of American States (OAS) will hold, on Tuesday, June 25th at 14:30 EDT (18:30 GMT), a Policy Roundtable under the title "Raising Awareness of Domestic Servitude in the Americas," in the Hall of the Americas at the main building of the hemispheric institution in Washington, DC.

Human trafficking is a serious criminal activity and a significant problem in the Western Hemisphere. There are currently examples of such exploitation in all the countries of the hemisphere and it is estimated that in Latin America and the Caribbean there are approximately 1.8 million victims of human trafficking.

Human Trafficking- Domestic Servitude is a crime and a form of labor exploitation whose victims include household workers and caretakers of children and senior citizens, among others.
