OAS and VirtualEduca to Inaugurate School for Displaced Children on the Colombia-Venezuela border

The Organization of American States (OAS) and its education program VirtualEduca will inaugurate tomorrow Thursday, September 17, at 9:00 (local time), the first PopUp school for displaced children affected by the situation on the border between Colombia and Venezuela.

The inauguration of the school will take place at the Instituto Técnico Agropecuario Juan Frío, municipio Villa del Rosario, Department of Norte de Santander in Colombia. Photos of the school are available here.

The initiative led by the Secretary General of the OAS, Luis Almagro, the Secretary General of VirtualEduca José María Antón, and Colombian authorities will include the participation of teachers and technical experts in education. The school expects to serve at least one hundred children.

The inauguration will be attended by the Special Advisor to the Secretary General on Access to Rights and Equity, Ideli Salvatti; the Director of the Department of Social Inclusion of the OAS, Betilde Muñoz-Pogossian; the Secretary General of VirtualEduca, José María Antón; the Governor of the Department of Norte de Santander, Edgar Jesús Díaz; and the Secretary of Education in Norte de Santander, Luddy Paez.
