OAS TO RECEIVE FOREIGN MINISTER OF PERU

The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Peru, Óscar Maúrtua de Romaña, will address the Permanent Council of the Organization of American States (OAS) on Wednesday at 2:45 p.m., during a protocolary meeting convened in his honor.

Shortly before the Permanent Council meeting, the Peruvian Foreign Minister and OAS Secretary General José Miguel Insulza will sign an agreement related to immunities and privileges for the Electoral Observation Mission that Peru has requested for its general elections on April 9, 2006. The ceremony will take place in the Secretary General’s office.

The protocolary session will be chaired by Ambassador Izben Williams of St. Kitts and Nevis, and will be Webcast live (www.oas.org).
