OAS to Donate Firearms Marking Equipment to Argentina

The Organization of American States (OAS) will donate firearms marking equipment to the government of Argentina to be used by the Ministry of Security with the objective of improving controls against the illicit trafficking of this type of weapon.

The event will take place at 12:00 pm local time (15:00 GMT) tomorrow, Tuesday, June 26, at the Armaments and Munitions Division of the Federal Police of Argentina in Buenos Aires. The ceremony will be attended by the OAS Program Officer, Florencia Raskovan, and the Argentinian Ministry's Under Secretary of Logistics, Mauro Fernando Sestua.

The donation is made as a part of the project “Promoting Firearms Marking in Latin America and the Caribbean,” framed within the Inter-American Convention against the Illicit Manufacturing of and Trafficking in Firearms, Ammunition, Explosives, and Other Related Materials (CIFTA), and seeks to strengthen national capabilities in the area of firearms marking.
