OAS to Host Launch of Report on Food Security and Migration

The Organization of American States (OAS) will host this Wednesday, August 23, the launch of the report "Food Security and Emigration: Why people flee and the impact on family members left behind in El Salvador, Guatemala and Honduras," at the Organization's headquarters in Washington, DC.

The report analyzes the link between food insecurity and migration in El Salvador, Guatemala and Honduras, particularly in one of the most vulnerable areas of the region known as "The Dry Corridor."

The launch ceremony will be inaugurated by OAS Secretary General Luis Almagro, and will feature presentations by El Salvador's Minister of Foreign Affairs, Hugo Martínez, his Guatemalan counterpart, Carlos Raúl Morales; and the Deputy Minister for International Cooperation of Honduras, María Andrea Matamoros.

The report is a joint effort of the OAS, the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB), the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD), the World Food Program (WFP), and the International Organization for Migration (IOM) .
