Each year in April, the OAS Board of External Auditors publishes a report covering the previous calendar year’s financial results. Reports covering 1996-2016 may be found here.

The OAS has discussed for several years the real estate issue, the funding required for maintenance and repairs, as well as the deferred maintenance of its historic buildings. HEMISPHERE’S CULTURE MINISTERS GATHER IN MONTREAL MONDAY NOVEMBER 13

The hemisphere’s ministers of culture are set to open a three-day meeting in Montreal,Canada , next Monday, and are expected to emerge with a list of priority activities to be carried out over the next two years by the Inter-American Committee on Culture. The Montreal meeting is being convened under the auspices of the Inter-American Council for Integral Development (CIDI) of the Organization of American States (OAS), in coordination with the government of Canada.
Speakers at the opening session of the Third Inter-American Meeting of Ministers of Culture and the Highest Appropriate Authorities will include OAS Assistant Secretary General Albert R. Ramdin, Quebec Premier Jean Charest and Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) Executive Vice President Ciro de Falco. Following the opening, the conference keynote address will be delivered by the Minister of Canadian Heritage and Status of Women, Beverley J. Oda.
Among other agenda items, a progress report on existing commitments of the Inter-American Committee on Culture will be presented by its Chair and the OAS Department of Education and Culture.
During their plenary sessions, the culture ministers and senior authorities will consider issues related to the following topics, which are also the areas for priority action:
• Preservation and Presentation of Cultural Heritage;
• Culture and the Enhancement of Dignity and Identity
• Culture and the Creation of Decent Jobs and the Overcoming of Poverty, and
• Culture and the Role of Indigenous Peoples
Before concluding their meeting, the ministers will issue a final declaration, after which they will hold a press conference to outline what was accomplished and what commitments the countries have made in the area of culture.
