OAS Hosts Roundtable on “Innovating for Democracy: Citizen Participation in the Digital Era”

The Organization of American States (OAS) will host, on Thursday, March 26, at 11:00 EDT (15:00 GMT), a Policy Roundtable titled “Innovating for Democracy: Citizen Participation in the Digital Era,” at the headquarters of the Organization in Washington DC.

The event will be opened by the Director of the Department for Effective Public Management of the OAS, María Fernanda Trigo, and will include a discussion panel moderated by Kevin Casas-Zamora, Secretary for Political Affairs of the OAS, who will also deliver the concluding remarks to the Roundtable. The panel will include Pablo Collada Chavéz, Executive Director of Fundación Ciudadano Inteligente; Michael Shifter, President of the Inter-American Dialogue; and Matt Lira, Spring Fellow at Harvard University´s Institute of Politics.

The Roundtable takes place in the framework of the OAS Fellowship on Open Government in the Americas, which brings together 24 young leaders from 16 countries in public administration, civil society and the private sector from across the Americas. The Program seeks to create a network of young agents of change in the region that seek new ways of building tools to bring about transparent governments and more efficient public administrations receptive to citizen demands.

The 66th OAS Policy Roundtable will be broadcast live on the OAS Website.
