OAS CICTE to Discuss Financing of Terrorism at its Annual Meeting

The Inter-American Committee against Terrorism (CICTE) of the Organization of American States (OAS) will hold, on Friday March 8, its Thirteenth Regular Session, during which the 34 Member States of the organization will discuss strengthening hemispheric cooperation to counter terrorist financing and money laundering.
The Secretary General of the OAS, José Miguel Insulza will take part in the opening session, along with the Chair of CICTE and Permanent Representative of Guatemala to the OAS, José Rodrigo Vielmann; and the Ambassador of Rwanda to the United Nations and Vice Chair of the United Nations Counter-Terrorism Committee, Eugène-Richard Gasana. The opening ceremony will be open to the press and will be broadcast live through the OAS Website.
The plenary meeting will elect the new Chair and Vice Chair of CICTE, and the Rapporteur of the Thirteenth Regular Session. During the meeting, regional experts will speak on the regional and international legal framework regarding the financing of terrorism and money laundering, and experiences on these issues in the Americas.
