OAS Anti-Corruption Mechanism to Present New Analyses on Six Member States

The Committee of Experts of the Follow-Up Mechanism for the Implementation of the Inter-American Convention against Corruption (MESICIC) of the Organization of American States (OAS) will inaugurate its Eighteenth Meeting on Monday, March 21, at 11:00 EDT (15:00 GMT) at Organization headquarters in Washington, DC.

During the meeting, which will run through Friday, March 25, anti-corruption experts from all Member States of the OAS will analyze, “inter pares,” the implementation in Canada, the United States, Guyana, Jamaica, Guatemala, and Saint Vincent and the Grenadines of the provisions of the Inter-American Convention against Corruption related to the denial of favorable tax treatment for payments made in violation of anti-corruption laws; the prevention of the bribery of domestic and foreign government officials; transnational bribery; illicit enrichment; and extradition.
