  March 27, 2006

The Organization of American States OAS has launched a competition for an official logo for the First Inter-American Meeting of Ministers and High Level Authorities on Sustainable Development. The logo design contest is being coordinated jointly by the OAS Department of Sustainable Development and the Art Museum of the Americas.

The ministerial meeting will take place in Bolivia in October, marking the tenth anniversary of the Santa Cruz de la Sierra Summit on Sustainable Development. Delegates from 34 OAS member states will examine the following three subject areas: (a) Integrated Water Resources Management; (b) Natural Disasters Risk Management; and (c) Sustainable Agriculture, Forestry and Tourism.

The contest is open to all interested parties, particularly professional artists and graphic designers, as well as students from institutions and universities in OAS member countries. The winner will receive prize money, and the winning logo will be used in all official documents and publications related to the ministerial meeting. The winner will be announced and interviewed in the Department of Sustainable Development Quarterly Newsletter.

All participants must submit their design entries before April 10, 2006, to the following email address: USDECPR6@OAS.org. The contest rules are available at http://www.oas.org/dsd/ and the decision will also be posted on this Web site on April 17.
