ANTI-NARCOTICS PROGRESS REPORTS TO BE PRESENTED AT OAS COMMISSION’S SESSION

The Inter-American Drug Abuse Control Commission (CICAD), a specialized agency of the Organization of American States, is holding its thirty fifth regular session in Washington, D.C., April 27 to 30, 2004.

The agenda revolves around the consideration, adoption and publication of national and hemispheric reports on the implementation of recommendations submitted to the Second Round of Evaluations (2001-2002) under the Multilateral Evaluation Mechanism (MEM). The upcoming session will also discuss renewed recommendations and those that have not been implemented, and will also set priorities.

CICAD Chairman Paul Kennedy, who is also Canada’s Senior Assistant Deputy Minister for Public Safety and Emergency Preparedness, and OAS Secretary General César Gaviria will inaugurate the meeting.
