OAS Hosts Dialogue on “Security, Humanitarian, Electoral and Democracy Assistance” in Haiti

The Organization of American States (OAS) will host TOMORROW, Wednesday, March 15, a dialogue among the Haitian Government, the High-Level Transition Council of Haiti, OAS member states and permanent observers, as well as other key stakeholders, to identify the priority areas of security, humanitarian, and electoral/democracy strengthening assistance required to enable and ensure inclusive, free, fair and credible elections and democratic transition in Haiti as soon as conditions allow.

The opening 09:30 EDT (13:30 GMT) and closing 15:30 EDT (19:30 GMT) sessions of the meeting will be broadcast live - with interpretation in Spanish, English, French and Portuguese- on the OAS Website and the OAS Facebook page

The dialogue will include the participation of, among others:

• The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Haiti, Jean Victor Généus;

• The Director General of the Haitian National Police;

• Members of the High-Level Transition Council (HTC) of Haiti;

• The Minister of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade of Jamaica, Kamina Johnson-Smith;

• The Assistant Secretary General for Europe, Central Asia and Americas in the UN Department of Political Affairs, Miroslav Jenca; and

• The Special Representative of the OAS Secretary General in Haiti, Cristobal Dupouy.
