OAS Organizes Workshop to Evaluate the Actions Against Antipersonnel Mines

The Organization of American States (OAS), through its Program for Comprehensive Action against Antipersonnel Mines (AICMA), will hold an evaluation workshop on antipersonnel mines at the Club de Oficiales de las Fuerzas Militares in Bogota, Colombia on March 5 - 9. The purpose of the workshop is to evaluate demining actions and strengthen the capacity building processes of evaluation of the action programs against antipersonnel mines.

The workshop, being held with the financial contributions from the governments of Canada and Colombia, will be attended by 35 civilian and military officers from Ecuador, Peru, Colombia, the United States, Canada, Japan and the European Union. The workshop will be led by Vera Bohle, an expert from the Geneva International Centre for Humanitarian Demining (GICHD) and Ray Rist, an expert from the World Bank.
