OAS Commemorates the Birth of Dominican Hero Juan Pablo Duarte

The Organization of American States (OAS) today commemorated the 199th birth anniversary of Juan Pablo Duarte, Founding Father of the Dominican Republic, with a ceremony at the headquarters of the Organization in Washington, D.C.

At the event, the Permanent Representative of the Dominican Republic to the OAS, Roberto Saladin Selin, and the Ambassador to the White House of the Caribbean nation, Anibal Castro, placed a floral offering at the sculpture of the distinguished Dominican located in the Hall of Heroes inside the OAS main building.

Ambassador Saladin asserted that to his government and the Dominican people “the thought, ideas and action of the Founding Father constitute a dignified engagement with the present and future of the nation.”

The Assistant Secretary General of the OAS, Ambassador Albert Ramdin, the Permanent Representatives of Colombia, Costa Rica, Mexico and Panama, and the Permanent Observer of France were also present at the ceremony.
