OAS Secretary General Meets with First Lady of Suriname

The Secretary General of the Organization of American States (OAS), José Miguel Insulza, met today in his office in Washington, DC, with the First Lady of Suriname, Ingrid Bouterse-Waldring.

The Secretary General and the First Lady talked about the programs developed by the OAS in favor of women and children, primarily through the Inter-American Commission of Women (CIM) and the childhood and adolescence organization (IIN). Also, both referred to the art exhibition which opens today at the headquarters of the OAS, entitled "Art Journey in the Rainforest of Suriname," by the Surinamese artist Paul Woei.

The First Lady took the opportunity to invite the head of the OAS to attend the Meeting of Ministers of Education to be held next year in Suriname.
