The new Permanent Representative of Argentina to the Organization of American States (OAS), Paula María Bertol, today presented her credentials to the Secretary General of the Organization, Luis Almagro, at the headquarters of the hemispheric institution in Washington, DC.

Ambassador Bertol said that she will rely on dialogue to defend the democratic institutions of the Americas. ""We will work extensively with tools used by the OAS: dialogue, strengthening of democracy, and promoting communication between member states. This is what our President wishes, just as he wants us to actively participate in this Organization working together," said the Argentine diplomat.

Secretary General Almagro recalled the parliamentary experience of Ambassador Bertol and highlighted that the OAS and Argentina share a common agenda. "The OAS General Secretariat will count on your valuable contributions for the fulfillment of its mission, to defend and secure democracy, ensure the full enjoyment of human rights, respect integral development and promote food security," he said.

Ambassador Bertol has been a National Deputy and Secretary of Parliamentary Relations and Administration of the Cabinet Office of Ministers in Argentina.
