OAS Secretary General Meets with First Lady of El Salvador

The Secretary General of the Organization of American States (OAS), José Miguel Insulza, today met with the First Lady and Secretary of Social Inclusion of El Salvador, in the framework of the 66th United Nations General Assembly in New York.

Secretary Pignato, who also chairs the Inter-American Committee for the Elimination of all Forms of Discrimination against Persons with Disabilities (CEDDIS), informed Secretary General Insulza of the results of her meeting with the UN Committee on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities, Ronald McCallum, where the possibility of establishing a permanent legal link between both committees was explored.

The head of the OAS expressed his satisfaction on the steps taken towards creating the link and promised to study the necessary legal conditions in order to provide a response to the proposal.
