The Secretary General of the Organization of American States (OAS), José Miguel Insulza, was hosted today in Lima by the President of Peru, Ollanta Humala, and held a meeting in which the two spoke about current international affairs and the Peruvian leader's plans at the national level.

At the meeting, the two spoke specifically about Peru's intentions to organize a regional anti-drug Summit centered on demand reduction; the celebrations of the ten years of the Inter-American Democratic Charter, signed in Lima on September 11, 2001; the Summit of the Americas to be held in Cartagena de Indias, Colombia, in April 2012; and investment opportunities in the Asia-Pacific region.

During his visit to Lima, the Secretary General of the OAS held meetings with the country's Minister of Foreign Affairs, Rafael Roncagliolo Orbegoso, and Deputy Minister José Antonio Meier. Also, he attended a lunch offered in his honor by Prime Minister Salomón Lerner Ghitis, to which the Minister of Justice, Francisco Eguiguren Praelli, also was invited.
