The Secretary General of the Organization of American States (OAS), José Miguel Insulza, met today with the Vice-Minister of Foreign Affairs of Israel, Daniel Ayalon, in the framework of the Forty-First Regular Session of the General Assembly of the Organization, held in San Salvador. The Assembly, whose leitmotiv is “Citizen Security in the Americas,” ends today.

The two discussed food security, health, agriculture, and Israel’s relations with countries in the region and exchanged views on the subject of citizen security. The representative of the Israeli government also told Secretary General Insulza that he admired the OAS for its ability to highlight the success of democracy in the Americas, an example other regions could benefit from, he said.

Also taking part in the encounter at the International Convention Center (CIFCO), where the region’s Ministers of Foreign Affairs are meeting, were Eliar Benjamín, from the Embassy of Israel to the United Status, and Doris Sharif, Director for Latin America of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Israel.
