The Secretary General of the Organization of American States (OAS), José Miguel Insulza, today visited Ciudad Mujer, an assistance project for at-risk women that covers seven municipalities in two departments of El Salvador. The project is being implemented by the First Lady and Minister for Social Inclusion of El Salvador, Vanda Pignato.

The complex, situated in San Juan Opico, 40 minutes from San Salvador, is a comprehensive assistance center specifically tailored to women’s needs and designed to ensure for them a decent life and respect for their rights. The OAS’ top-ranking official, accompanied by the Minister for Social Inclusion, toured the facility, where services range from medical and dental treatment to legal assistance, and approximately 140 women a day receive attention.
