The Secretary General of the Organization of American States (OAS), José Miguel Insulza, met today in his office in Washington, DC with Colombia’s High Presidential Counselor for Reintegration, Alejandro Éder, who heads reinsertion programs for demobilized militants in the context of the peace process in the South American country.

At the meeting both talked about the current situation of the reinsertion programs for former members of criminal gangs in Colombia. The Colombian High Counselor thanked Secretary General Insulza for the support provided by the Organization in this matter.

The Hemispheric Organization and the Colombian Government have been working together on this issue since 2004, after the signing of the agreement that established the Mission to Support the Peace Process in Colombia (MAPP/OEA).
