The Secretary General of the Organization of American States (OAS), José Miguel Insulza, arrived in San José on Sunday night and met with the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Religion, René Castro; the Minister of Public Security, José María Tijerino; and other Costa Rican authorities to review the background on the situation at the border zone with Nicaragua, following conversations with Nicaraguan President Daniel Ortega.

Today, the Secretary General flew over the zone involved in the disagreement between the two countries on the Costa Rican side, accompanied by that country’s authorities. At noon, he will meet again with President Laura Chinchilla in the presidential palace.
