The Secretary General of the Organization of American States (OAS), José Miguel Insulza, visited the border line between Nicaragua and Costa Rica this morning from the Nicaraguan side in a helicopter from that country's airforce, to have a broader view of the area involved. Secretary General Insulza flew above the San Juan River in the zone involved in the disagreement between the two Central American countries. He was accompanied by the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Samuel Santos; the Commander-in-Chief of the Airforce, Warner Molina; and his own advisors Dante Caputo and Dante Negro.

Upon his return to Managua, at the airport of Armed Forces, the head of the OAS met again with President Daniel Ortega, with whom he spoke about the next steps foreseen in the search for a rapprochement towards dialogue between the Nicaraguan and Costa Rican governments. The Secretary General of the OAS returns to Costa Rica this afternoon, where he is to meet today with the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Religion, René Castro. Tomorrow he will meet with President Laura Chinchilla and afterwards will travel back to Washington.
