United States Representatives Meet with OAS Authorities

The Secretary General of the Organization of American States (OAS), José Miguel Insulza, Assistant Secretary General Albert R. Ramdin, OAS Member State representatives and high-level officials met today with members of the United States Congress to exchange views on the future of the region, as part of the activities held in the framework of the 40th OAS General Assembly to be held June 6-8 in Lima, Peru.

Senators Christopher Dodd from Connecticut and Mark Warner from Virginia, both Democrats, and their staff held a dialogue with OAS authorities in which they discussed issues such as regional economic development, security, drug trafficking, alternative sources of energy and immigration.

During the event, held at the Swissotel in Lima, the Senators, who are visiting various South American countries, reiterated their support for the Organization and their commitment to the social and economic development of the region.
