OAS and University of Pennsylvania Sign Agreement to Train Staff of the Organization

The Organization of American States (OAS) and the Fels Institute of Government of the University of Pennsylvania today signed an agreement to facilitate scholarships for staff members of the Organization to purse Master´s degrees in public administration.

The Secretary General of the OAS, Luis Almagro said the agreement represented an opportunity to reinforce the capabilities of the staff of the institution. “My administration is deeply committed to supporting the strengthening of the OAS General Secretariat and its staff. For this reason, we are pleased to be signing this agreement with the University of Pennsylvania that will provide training and development opportunities for OAS personnel.”

For his part, the Executive Director of the Fels Institute, Nelson Lim, highlighted the common values shared by the university and the hemispheric organization. “Your four pillars – security, democracy, human rights and development - are totally consistent with our curriculum, and with what we want our students to learn and become committed to.”
