OAS Permanent Council Receives Presentation on Petrocaribe Ten Years after its Creation

The Permanent Council of the Organization of American States (OAS) today held a special meeting to receive a presentation by the Minister of Petroleum and Mining of Venezuela on "Petrocaribe: energy for the union."

In his presentation, the Minister of Popular Power for Oil and Mining and President of Petroleos de Venezuela (PDVSA), Eulogio del Pino, explained the objectives for which Petrocaribe was created a decade ago, its contributions to the economy of the Caribbean region and its significance as an energy supplier to a group of countries which together have a population of one hundred million people.

At the beginning of the Council on the initiative of its Chair, the Permanent Representative of Venezuela, Bernardo Alvarez, a minute of silence was held for the victims of last week´s terrorist attacks in France and Lebanon.
