OAS Assistant Secretary General Presented Report on Cyber Security and Critical Infrastructure in the Americas to the Member States

The Assistant Secretary General of the Organization of American States (OAS), Albert Ramdin, today presented officially to the member states of the institution the report “Cyber Security and Critical Infrastructure in the Americas,” jointly produced by the OAS and the information security company Trend Micro.



In the presentation to representatives of member states, Ambassador Ramdin recalled that the document includes the results of a survey on cyber vulnerabilities facing governmental organizations and the private sector in the region, entailing not only technological, but also political, social and economic risks, and called for continued efforts aimed at prevention across all sectors.

The ceremony, held at the Museum of the Americas, also featured the presence of the Chief Cybersecurity Officer of Trend Micro, Tom Kellermann; the Assistant Director of the Digital Crime Investigative Support Sub-Directorate of the INTERPOL Digital Crime Centre, James Pang; and the Executive Secretary of the Inter-American Committee against Terrorism (CICTE) of the OAS, Neil Klopfenstein, in addition to the representatives of the member states of the hemispheric Organization.
