The Secretary General of the Organization of American States (OAS), José Miguel Insulza, today received Gabriela Montaño, President of the Chamber of Deputies of Bolivia, in his office in Washington, DC.

During the meeting, the two discussed the legislative agenda in Bolivia, the upcoming municipal elections in the country, the economic conditions in the region, and the challenges of inequality in the Americas, as well as the tools to combat it.

Deputy Montaño is in Washington to take part today in a Round Table organized by the Inter-American Commission of Women (CIM) of the OAS titled "Political Violence against Women: A Hemispheric Challenge."

Also present during the meeting was the Permanent Representative of Bolivia to the OAS, Ambassador Diego Pary.
