OAS Secretary General Met with the Members of the Inter-American Court of Human Rights

The Secretary General of the Organization of American States (OAS), José Miguel Insulza, today visited the headquarters of the Inter-American Court of Human Rights (CorteIDH) in San José, Costa Rica, and met with its members.

The OAS leader highlighted the importance of the Court in the Inter-American system, praised its work in the region and expressed his gratitude for the respectful and constructive relationship between the General Secretariat and the authorities, judges and staff of the Court.

The President of the Court, Humberto Sierra Porto, the judges Eduardo Vio Grossi, Diego García Sayán, Roberto Caldas, Manuel Ventura, Alberto Pérez and Eduardo Ferrer, highlighted the quality of the dialogue the Secretary General has maintained throughout his mandate, with strict respect for its autonomy and independence. They also noted the significant increase of resources earmarked for the functioning of this organ of the Inter-American system and its importance to their work.
