The Secretary General of the Organization of American States (OAS), José Miguel Insulza, met today with the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs of Honduras, Mireya Agüero Corrales, at the headquarters of the hemispheric institution in Washington, DC, with whom he spoke about immigration issues.

The OAS Secretary General and Foreign Minister Agüero de Corrales discussed, among other things, the situation of migrant children who travel from Central America to the United States. Secretary General Insulza expressed the concern of the OAS about the humanitarian crisis generated on the southern border of the United States, with the passage of thousands of minors traveling alone in search of their families, risking the violation of their human rights.

During the meeting, Secretary General Insulza was accompanied by his Chief of Staff, Hugo de Zela, while Minister Agüero de Corrales attended the interview with the Permanent Representative of Honduras to the OAS, Leonidas Rosa Bautista.
