Secretary General of the OAS meets with CARICOM Heads of Delegation

Today the Secretary General of the Organization of American States (OAS), José Miguel Insulza, met with the Foreign Ministers and Heads of Delegation of the Caribbean Community (CARICOM), during a working breakfast held in conjunction with the 44th General Assembly taking place in Asunción, Paraguay.

During the meeting the main topics discussed were the active role that the Caribbean nations play within the OAS and within the inter-American human rights system, and development of the sub-region. Secretary General Insulza and the high ranking representatives from the Caribbean participating in the annual meeting of the OAS’ supreme authority also discussed the hemispheric agenda.

The meeting was also attended by the Assistant Secretary General of the OAS, Ambassador Albert Ramdin, and Secretary General Insulza’s senior advisors.
