Secretary General Meets with Foreign Minister of Guyana

The Secretary General of the Organization of American States (OAS), José Miguel Insulza, met with the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Trade, and International Cooperation of Guyana, Carolyn Rodrigues-Birkett, in Asunción, the venue for the OAS General Assembly, which is ending today in Paraguay.

In the course of the meeting, Secretary General Insulza and Minister Rodrigues-Birkett discussed the central theme of the General Assembly, “Development with social inclusion.” They also touched on other important topics on the hemispheric agenda, specifically cooperation to mitigate the effects of climate change, which affects the Caribbean countries in particular.

Also present at the meeting with Secretary General Insulza was the Permanent Representative of Guyana to the Organization, Bayney Karran.
