OAS Secretary General Meets with Saint Kitts and Nevis Foreign Minister

The Secretary General of the Organization of American States (OAS), José Miguel Insulza, met with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Saint Kitts and Nevis, Patrice Nisbett, in the framework of 44th OAS General Assembly in Asunción, Paraguay.

During the meeting, Secretary General Insulza underscored the important work that the Caribbean country was doing in the Organization through its Mission to the OAS, headed by Ambassador Jacinth Lorna Henry-Martin, the present Chair of the Permanent Council.

For his part, Minister Nisbett pledged Saint Kitts and Nevis’s support for the “Strategic Vision” for the future of the Organization, which Secretary General Insulza had presented to the Permanent Council, and expressed appreciation for the efforts the hemispheric body was making to support education in his country through the scholarship program. The Caribbean diplomat also expressed satisfaction with the work done by the OAS in the area of renewable energies.
