OAS Secretary General Meets with Minister of Foreign Affairs of Colombia

The Secretary General of the Organization of American States (OAS), José Miguel Insulza, met today with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Colombia, María Ángela Holguín, in the context of the forty-fourth regular session of the OAS General Assembly, being held in Asunción, Paraguay.

At the meeting with the Secretary General, Minister Holguín thanked the Organization for its support to the peace process in Colombia, implemented by the OAS Mission to Support the Peace Process (MAPP). For his part, Insulza congratulated the Colombian Government on the excellent work of Colombian election authorities during the recent first round of presidential elections, which the OAS observed. He called special attention to the swift processing of the results.

Also present at the meeting were the Permanent Representative of Colombia to the OAS, Andrés Gonzalez; the Chief of Staff of Secretary General Insulza, Ambassador Hugo de Zela; and the OAS Secretary for Political Affairs, Kevin Casas-Zamora.
