The Secretary General of the Organization of American States (OAS), José Miguel Insulza, met today with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Trinidad and Tobago, Winston Dookeran, in Asunción, Paraguay, site of the forty-fourth regular session of the hemispheric organization’s General Assembly, which runs from today through Thursday.

During the meeting, they discussed topics including the role of the OAS in pursuing multilateral solutions to the region’s problems, human rights in the Americas, and the current political situation in the Hemisphere.

Also present at the meeting were the Permanent Representative of Trinidad and Tobago to the OAS, Neil Parsan, and the Chief of Staff of the Secretary General, Hugo De Zela.
