OAS Secretary General Met with Permanent Observer of China

The Secretary General of the Organization of American States (OAS), José Miguel Insulza, met today with the Permanent Observer of China to the OAS, Ambassador Cui Tiankai, in the Secretary General’s office at the convention center in Asunción, Paraguay, where the 44th OAS General Assembly begins today.

During the meeting, the representative of China noted the importance of the General Assembly as a direct response to the need for dialogue and integration among the peoples of the hemisphere.

In addition to marking the 10th anniversary of China’s status as an observer country to the OAS, Ambassador Tiankei presented the Secretary General with a contribution to help fund infrastructure improvements at the OAS. The OAS Secretary for External Relations, Alfonso Quiñónez, also participated in the meeting.
