OAS Secretary General Received Visit from EU Representative for the Americas

The Secretary General of the Organization of American States (OAS), José Miguel Insulza, met today with the Managing Director for the Americas of the European External Action Service, Cristian Leffler, in the Secretary General’s office at the 44th OAS General Assembly, which opens today in Asunción, Paraguay.

Secretary General Insulza and Director Leffler discussed the importance of linking issues related to inclusion, security, and democracy with the creation of state public policies designed to improve living conditions for the people of the Americas. They also agreed on the importance that the various multinational agencies are in sync when it comes to their concern over the issue of “Development with Social Inclusion,” the central theme of the General Assembly.

Present at the meeting was also Alessandro Palermo, Head of the EU delegation to Paraguay and the OAS Secretary for External Relations, Alfonso Quiñónez.
