Secretary General Receives the Attorney General of Argentina

The Secretary General of the Organization of American States (OAS), José Miguel Insulza, today met with the Attorney General of the Republic of Argentina, Alejandra Gils Carbó, at the headquarters of the hemispheric institution in Washington, DC.

During the meeting, Secretary General Insulza and Attorney General Gils discussed the situation in the Hemisphere’s prisons and, in this regard, the Attorney General outlined the details of the Plan to Modernize and Strengthen the Public Ministry, which she is implementing in her country.

In addition to visiting the Secretary General, the Argentine official is in Washington, DC, to participate in the 150th Period of Sessions of the Inter-American Commission on Human Rights (IACHR), which is taking place through April 4.

The Permanent Representative of Argentina to the OAS, Ambassador Nilda Celia Garré, and the Director of the Department of Legal Cooperation of the Organization, Jorge García González, also attended the meeting.
