The Secretary General of the Organization of American States (OAS), José Miguel Insulza, met today with the Secretary General of the Pan American Institute of Geography and History (IPGH), Rodrigo Barriga Vargas, in his office in Washington, DC.

Secretary General Insulza and Secretary General Barriga Vargas discussed the Inter-American agenda of both institutions, especially issues related to climate change, land use and management to natural disasters.

The Pan American Institute of Geography and History was founded in 1928 and is one of the oldest institutions of the Inter-American System headed by the OAS. Also, OAS Secretary for External Relations, Alfonso Quiñonez, attended the meeting.
